East of Havana

East of Havana is a documentary that came out a couple years back in several different film festivals. Produced by Charlize Theron, the film takes a close look at the underground Hip-Hop culture that is happening in Cuba. Problem is, a lot of these artists do not have worldwide recognition for political reasons (hopefully some of that will change now with Obama). I have not seen the film nor do I have any idea how to see it because it is not available on Netflix or Blockbuster and all the screenings were showed years back. If anyone has any idea how I can grab this on DVD, please let me know.

Here's the trailer:

Jamie Jones - Summertime

The long-awaited Jamie Jones release 'Summertime' was FINALLY liberated today. The Crosstown Rebels release features the melodic WMC BOMB Summertime as its A-Side along with a dub of the track. The B-Side, 'You', is not to be slept on. I've heard this played out and it is a party starting track. Overall, a very solid release by, who I believe to be, is one of the best DJ's in the game at the moment.

Opa Locka Knows How to Wu-Tang

Opa Locka, located in the northern part of Miami-Dade county, apparently knows how to Wu-Dat-Thang. Don't believe me? Here's some rare footage of 305's finest showing the rest of the world how it's done..

I was born and raised in Miami, but I have NO idea where they got the saying 'Wu-Dat Thang'. I must admit, the song is brilliant. Big ups to Joaquin for putting me up on this.

James Jarvis - 'Onward'

Here's an animation created by James Jarvis called 'Onward" that was sponsored by Nike. Good to see big companies showing some love to cool art like this without having to throw its logo all around it. Also, the song you hear is Caribou's 'Crayon' (great selection)

Check out this video of a weird hippie being tased by a group of over-weight police officers at this years Coachella Festival. Warning, you see plenty of this guys cannoli throughout this clip. No homo or anything, but that thing looks like a tiny button.

Luciano, Villalobos, Dice DJ On A Mountain

Leave it to techno DJ heavyweights Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, and Loco Dice to do something as weird as having a party on top of a mountain in the Swiss Alps. As you watch the video, be on the look out for the crazy guy who decides to paraglide over the party, much to the crowds delight. I wish this stuff would happen in the US.
