IanVisits: 'Abandoned London'

I came across these photos taken of London early Christmas morning. The theme as you can see is shots of some of the busiest places in London without any sign of life in them. I lived in London last year so I know some of these places well and understand how difficult it is to see them without a single human being around.

Pierre Beteille aka MonkeyMan

Here are some shots from French artist Pierre Beteille (aka MonkeyMan). Of his work, Beteille says, "I am not a photographer or an artist, I just make images … I shoot very average or even bad photos that I try to improve thanks to Photoshop …“ I like the guys honesty.

The Transatlantic Tunnel

Just finished watching the Transatlantic Tunnel special on the Science Channel. This thing would be insane. A submerged oceanic tunnel and supersonic train that would take you from NYC to London (or vice-versa) in 54 minutes!!! That means you could literally live in New York and work in London. Taken from popsci.com:

'a neutrally buoyant vacuum tunnel submerged 150 to 300 feet beneath the Atlantic's surface and anchored to the seafloor, through which zips a magnetically levitated train at up to 4,000 mph.'

Will it happen? Who knows, but the thought of it is great. There are still many obstacles to think about like the bodies reaction to the G-forces, earthquakes, fires, terrorism, etc.
Also, estimated cost: $88 billion – $175 billion (I got $5 on it =/ )
